Overview

Under limited supervision, the Human Resource Generalist will be responsible for performing practical administration of the day to day operations of the Human Resources Department.

Given the 24/7 casino gaming operation of the proscribed venue, the HR Generalist will assist with providing consultation and practical guidance in each of the following areas: Recruitment & Selection, Compensation, Risk Management, Benefits and Employee Relations. The HR Generalist shall interpret and reference federal, state and local employment and labor laws & regulations including the tribal and state gaming ordinances.

Responsibilities

  • Administers various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assists in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Assists with the preparation and maintenance of employee handbook/guidebook.
  • Actively participates in developing department goals, objectives and systems.
  • Develops and maintains affirmative action programs; i.e. TERO, EEOC.
  • Conducts recruitment effort for all exempt and non-exempt personnel, internships and temporary employees; conducts new-employee orientations; monitors succession and career path planning programs, writes and places job announcements.
  • Implements and protects the employment cycle for 500 employees and on boarding process for a new casino.
  • Assists with the handlings of employee relations counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Participates in administrative staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars. Maintains company organization charts.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports, decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals and objectives. Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
  • Knowledge of the Indian Preference Act.
  • Knowledge of the Tribal Employment Rights Ordinance.
  • Exceptional relationship building skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including oral and written.
  • Effective influence and persuasion skills.
  • Solid decision making and initiative skills.
  • Highly effective organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong computer proficiency (MS Office, HRIS, Access) and office skills,
  • Ability to establish employee goodwill and be sensitive to the cultural diversity of the work environment and employees.
  • Demonstrated ability to adhere to highest standards of professionalism, confidentiality and ethical discretion.
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Ability to exercise own discretion in executing certain tasks independently
  • Ability to lead, guide and coach associates of all level
  • Energetic, resourceful, a good team player with good interpersonal skills

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Sociology, Business, or any equivalent major AND minimum of (3) years' of Human Resource Management experience, OR Any similar combination of education and work experience.
  • High volume recruitment experience in new store openings.
  • All employees must obtain a valid gaming license from the State Gaming Agency and Tribal Gaming Office prior to beginning work and are required to have license renewed annually.

 

Other Skills and Abilities:

  • Proficient in most current version of Microsoft Office including VIZIO
  • PHR Certification (Preferred)
  • Bilingual (Spanish) – (Preferred)
