Overview

The Vice President, Security & Services is responsible for overseeing Wells Fargo Complex security for employees, visitors and patrons, implementing programs and policies and taking actions to correct identified problems. The incumbent is accountable for all administrative, operational, budget, and service functions related to Security & Services.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates an understanding of the operational & strategic linkage between segments of the organization
  • Develops, implements & evaluates department goals & action plans to support Comcast-Spectacor’s mission, philosophy & strategic plan
  • Completes responsibilities in a timely manner through effective organization, setting priorities, delegation, and utilizing time management skills
  • Applies the technical knowledge, skills and experience to ensure successful performance. Compiles & submits records & reports as required that reflect departmental activities
  • Prepares and submits annual list of departmental objectives. Monitors progress
  • Submits proposals to expand/or improve services with detailed analysis and justification included
  • Complies with all applicable laws, statutes, or standards from regulatory and accrediting agencies
  • Aids in the development and coordination of company-wide security programs and provides documentation in the form of operation manuals.
  • Develops, implements and maintains compliance with Comcast-Spectacor policies and procedures, regulatory and legal requirements
  • Develops and implements quality improvement activities to maintain the ongoing quality of security for patrons, visitors and employees
  • Maintains good working relations with all outside agencies including local/state/federal law enforcement agencies
  • Understands, interprets, and enforces new and/or updated local, state, federal security regulations applicable to Comcast-Spectacor/Wells Fargo Center
  • Adheres to and applies all aspects of security regulations throughout Comcast-Spectacor/Wells Fargo Center in a consistent manner
  • Manages performance by assessing staff competency and providing constructive feedback on initial hire, on an ongoing basis and in accordance with Comcast-Spectacor’s Performance Management Program
  • Inform Security personnel about role in providing security services; review and update emergency preparedness procedures and develop job function qualifications for staff
  • Instruct Security personnel to provide direction and assistance to patrons, visitors and employees in a courteous and positive manner
  • Demonstrate the ability to direct the departmental goals and activities in conjunction with sound security and management concepts. Expresses ideas in a clear, creative and succinct manner
  • Determines needs, allocates resources and resolves problems related to staffing, space, equipment and supplies
  • Plans, develops, monitors, and assumes accountability for operating within the annual departmental and capital equipment budget
  • Monitors, reviews, justifies, and implements strategies to improve financial performance for assigned departments including expenses, revenues and productivity
  • Coordinates preparation of the annual budget. Provides detailed justification including labor productivity indicators
  • Maintains and reviews monthly budget reports, identifies variances and takes corrective action as necessary
  • Maintains the organizational chart for the Department of Security & Services
  • Inform all personnel of changes & additions to regulatory standards by communicating to departments
  • Initiates and facilitates changes to improve security services through effective communication, collaboration and interdisciplinary problem solving. Serves as a role model & mentor to staff by consistently demonstrating professionalism
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and integration of acquired knowledge and skills into practice.
  • Assists employees with development of professional and technical skills. Maintains competency of all Security & Services personnel.
  • Maintains and fosters good employee morale. Promotes harmony within the departments and company.
  • Provides direction and guidance to supervisory staff in maintaining security services and protection; offers assistance with special problems.
  • Represents the Security & Services Department at all requested or required functions

 

Nonessential Job Functions:

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the President, Wells Fargo Complex

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible Security management experience in sports, entertainment or other similar industries, including a minimum of 7 years of supervisory experience, and preferably in a union environment
  • Related background in military / police preferred
  • Experience with Microsoft software required. (Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in the English language required
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and tasks
  • Good decision making skills required
  • Must have earned or have the ability to earn valid CPR certification
  • Must demonstrate a positive, professional and customer-focused attitude
  • Ability to work beyond normal business hours, including but not limited to nights, weekends, and select holidays, as required

Intellectual/Social Demands:

  • While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical Demands:

  • While performing the essential duties of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information; occasionally moves about the facility before/during/after events to observe, report, supervise staff and provide service to clients.

Work environment:

  • The essential functions of this position are usually performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud to during events and minimal during non-events.
