  • Works closely with the Director of Marketing with the sales and marketing aspects for the venue and events
  • Solicits new business opportunities for Group Sales department.
  • Conduct call blocks for promoting events and generating new business leads
  • Maintain and track sales databases, reports and spreadsheets
  • Work closely with Box Office Manager to process & reserve Group Sales Orders Process & Reserve Group Sales orders
  • Promotes Group Sales for selected events including family shows, University of Maine athletics and select Portland Hockey LLC games.
  • Assist in development and implementation all aspects of sales plans for events
  • Achieve/exceed assigned sales goals
  • Works with promoters on group sales plans and budgets
  • Track and manage weekly sales reports
  • Responsible for continuing development and creation of new revenue streams for Group Sales
  • Execute event responsibilities as required
  • Assist Director of Marketing with projects involving research and design
  • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions
  • Assist in the creation and implementation of marketing and sales campaigns to maximize event awareness and exposure
  • Develop promotions and day of event activities
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned 


  • Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college/university with major coursework in Business, Communications, Marketing, Facility/Sports Management or another related field
  • Previous sales experience with an arena, convention center, hotel or other similar public assembly facility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments efficiently and effectively under strict deadlines
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and select holidays as required, in addition to traditional business hours
  • Ability to travel as required

Intellectual/Social demands:

  • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits.  Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame.  This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

Physical demands:

  • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the facilities and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.

Work environment:

  • The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
