The Sponsorship & Sales Manager is responsible for developing sponsorship packages, coordinating all sponsorship initiatives and selling sponsorship opportunities for all of the Sandler Center’s programs including the Great Performance Series, in-house promoted series and events, the education series, playbills and other opportunities. They will maintain relationships with these sponsors in order to increase revenue streams through other sources (bookings, tickets sales, etc). They will also assist in promoting the use of the meeting and function space in the Sandler Center.  They will assist in developing sponsorship and promotional material for the meeting spaces and bring in new clients for bookings.


  • Ensure the development, maintenance and coordination of advertising/sponsorship opportunities.
  • Obtain and retain sponsorships from new and current sponsors.
  • Research potential sponsors and clients for sponsorships, playbill sales and building rentals.
  • Schedule appointments with potential sponsors and clients regularly and follow-up on a timely basis.
  • Follow up with appropriate staff to make sure all sponsorship contracts are fulfilled.
  • Promote the Sandler Center and its programs to all potential users and sponsors.
  • Conduct Sandler Center tours and make formal presentations to convention and exhibition managers and other facility users regarding facility booking policies, rental rates, services and operational policies
  • Participate in the development of promotional sales brochure, newsletters and other marketing materials as directed.
  • Develop sponsorship materials and presentations.
  • Meet weekly with the General Manager and the Foundation staff to update them on progress
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.




  • Degree preferred, equivalent work experience will be considered
  • Minimum of 5-10 years sales experience preferred
  • Strong management, motivational & organizational skills required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends
  • Ability to travel as required

Special Knowledge and Abilities:


Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of sponsorship and sales
  • Terminology used in entertainment and performing arts facilities

Ability to:

  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with the sponsors, Virginia Beach Convention & Visitors Bureau, area hotels, facility staff, users and service providers
  • Work a flexible schedule including mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays,
  • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
