Serves as event manager providing professional client services support while serving as a liaison between clients and facility departments to oversee all aspects of facility operations related to events. Oversees front of house staff, including house managers and area managers, for events in the Performing Arts Center. Oversees volunteer usher program providing support and guidance to all volunteers City Springs consists of a the 1,100 seat Byers Theatre, 400 seat Studio Theatre, Conference Center and Rooftop Terrace bar, Outdoor Greenspace, and CityBar, where the Event Manager will be involved with all rentable spaces.


  • Act as liaison for building with all parties involved in the event on event day.
  • Coordinate event requirements with client and building staff.
  • Prepare data sheets, rundowns, and facility set up maps for building personnel prior to each event.
  • Present event reviews in weekly wrap up meeting.
  • Participate in event previews/reviews in weekly Production staff meeting.
  • Assist with all recruiting, training and managing of house and area managers, security staff, and volunteers.
  • Assist with the scheduling of all house and area managers, EMT, security and volunteer ushers.
  • Assist with management of volunteer program including policies, procedures and standards of volunteer service.
  • Serve as manager on duty as required by Director of Operations.
  • Communicate with building staff all requirements prior/during/post event schedule.
  • Answer incoming event request forms for private room rentals, facilitating tours and rental process.
  • Participate in city, administrative, community, partner, and sponsor meetings as necessary.
  • Facilitate customer service by managing complaints, comments, and concerns from patrons.
  • Assist Management staff with documents distributed to all departments.
  • Assist Management Staff with implementation of new programs.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in business management/administration, sports/entertainment/venue management, theater management, arts administration, or other related field
  • Strong management, motivational & organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to function in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience in software for drawing room layouts or managing volunteer staff is desired
  • Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays above and beyond normal working hours
  • Must be able to work independently and be self-motivated
  • Must be able to sit, stand or walk for long periods of time
  • Must be able to work varied shifts including nights, weekends and holidays
  • Previous event and volunteer management experience preferred
