    As a valuable member of the Ryan Center team, you will assist with all creative projects and venue social media channels as a part-time employee. This position will work closely with the Marketing Manager and Premium Services and Marketing Coordinator to design promotional material, web graphics, ads, and social media content to promote events at the Ryan Center to the University of Rhode Island and local communities. The Ryan Center is a $54 million multi-purpose venue that hosts URI Men’s and Women’s Basketball games, family entertainment, concerts, trade shows, conventions and other community events. Some notable events that have come through the Ryan Center in recent years include: NCAA Women’s Basketball East Regional, Globetrotters, Sesame Street Live, Wiz Khalifa, Kid Cudi, Snoop Dogg, Dayglow, Jimmy Fallon, Jason Mraz, Jay Leno, AVICII, The Fray, Will Ferrell, Ludacris, Kanye West and Larry The Cable Guy.

     

     

    Responsibilities

    • Learn to develop and execute marketing campaigns promoting selected events with primary focus on Ryan Center concerts
    • Develop marketing and public relations recaps, based on feedback and effectiveness of marketing strategies used
    • Actively participate in brainstorming sessions
    • Assisting the marketing staff at booths / tables at festivals, fairs, and other events with high traffic to publicize the arena and our events
    • Participate in all Ryan Center events, game-day activities, promotions and set up.
    • Assist marketing department with other duties and responsibilities as assigned

    Qualifications

    • This position is available for class credit. Must maintain a minimum of a 3.2 cumulative GPA required
    • Marketing, Advertising, or Business-related majors preferred, but not required
    • A basic knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Snapchat
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word and Excel
    • Junior undergraduate standing or above
    • Duties must be completed onsite at the Ryan Center during normal business hours with flexibility to work nights, weekends and holidays
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver license
    • Highly motivated individual with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
    • Passion for the sports and entertainment industry, a plus
    • A winning, do what it takes, attitude
