    The Staff Accountant position, at the Cross Center Insurance Arena in Portland, provides the right candidate the opportunity to work in the exciting and ever changing field of sports and entertainment while working in one of the most desirable cities in Maine. The position is responsible for a full range of professional accounting duties involved in fiscal management, record keeping, reporting and financial analysis of the facility.  The perfect candidate will monitor, control, and audit financial transactions, perform accounts payable and receivables functions and be responsible for payroll.  





    • Perform accounts receivables processes including invoice preparation and recording cash receipts.
    • Perform all functions associated with payroll processing.
    • Balance sheet analysis.
    • Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements.
    • Prepare and enter monthly closing journal entries.
    • Accounting and reporting for events.
    • Cash receipts and receivable reconciliation.
    • Manage accounts payable
    • Review and process all daily box office ticketing sales.
    • Examine and verify a variety of financial documents and reports.
    • Prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses.
    • Apply accounting principles to the maintenance of financial and accounting transactions and audit of financial records involved for in-house food and beverage operations.
    • Research and write reports in support of all financial activities.
    • Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.




    • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, or business administration.
    • Keen understanding of accounts payable and receivables systems, as well as being adept and knowledgeable with payroll processing.
    • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook. Experience with Sage 100 or similar accounting software preferred. Understanding and experience with current payroll software, preferably ADP.
    • Ability to understand and apply generally accepted accounting principles and procedures to a variety of accounting audits, transactions, and problems.
    • Qualified candidate must have the ability to problem solve, take initiative and work well as a team member of the accounting department.
    • Understand principles and practices of financial auditing and inventory accounting methods.
    • Keen attention to detail and able to meet set deadlines on all projects.
    • Ability to assist with financial report preparation using common methods and techniques.
