  • Overview

    Under supervision of Box Office Manager, directs and participates in the operation of the Alaska Airlines Center Terry Ann Holman Box Office; functions, procedures and personnel for Spectra Venue Management. Facilitates season ticket renewal program for UAA Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball and Gymnastics. Assists with routine report development and other documentation.

    Responsibilities

    • Facilitates daily ticket sales for the Alaska Airlines Center and the University of Alaska Anchorage
    • Builds and maintains season ticketed events; maintains customer database, contacts season ticket holders and follows up with orders, etc
    • Coordinates group sale opportunities with Spectra Marketing for UAA Athletic and other AAC events.
    • Compiles and builds individual events. Setting up ticket prices, discounts, seating charts, and other information that pertains to the event
    • Creates vouchers, coupons and passes and other ticket related items
    • Schedules and tracks needed part-time personnel for ticket selling on a bi-weekly basis
    • Supervises and evaluates the work of box office employees and part time box office representatives
    • Administers personnel and related policies and procedures
    • Recommends personnel actions related to selection, performance review, scheduling and discipline
    • Maintains daily ticket office accounting records, balance and deposits all ticket monies daily. Including but not limited to the ESR report, daily accounting reports, promoters event audits, etc.
    • Prepares and interprets event sales statement, and other related reports.
    • Responsible for monitoring budget items related to box office functions
    • Investigates questions and problems related to ticket sales and develops solutions for the general public, event promoters, ticket office personnel and management
    • Monitors change needs for the department and orders change requests as needed for events
    • Performs related duties as may be required

    Qualifications

    • Graduate of an accredited college or university with major coursework in business administration or related field
    • Two to three years’ experience in box office operations
    • Two or more years supervisory experience or any combination of education and experience that will have provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities
    • Ability to perform effectively under stressful situations
    • Ability to work with, motivate, support and involve employees in accomplishing goals and objectives
    • Ability to implement modern office procedures
    • Ability to define, analyze and solve problems
    • Ability to coordinate ticket office procedures with other staff
    • Ability to work variable hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
    • Ability to safely and accurately handle and account for large sums of money
    • Ability to handle difficult situations with courtesy and tact when dealing with the public and promoters
    • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with other staff, event promoters and the general public
    • Must possess valid driver’s license
    • Skill in operating modern office equipment including computer, cash counter, printers and scanners
