  • Overview

    The Social Media Manager will manage real-time engagement with fans across multiple platforms and play a critical role in how fans view and experience the Philadelphia Flyers. This role will focus on building relevance, awareness, viewership and create demand for Flyers tickets, content and other products.


    • Serve as the voice of the Flyers on all social platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, etc.) 24/7, creating and posting content to elicit positive fan response while increasing followers
    • Share news, create conversations, gather fan sentiment and drive innovation across all key social media outlets
    • Implement a content calendar as developed by the Flyers marketing and communications team
    • Aware of and interested in the latest digital and social media trends shaping professional sports, i.e.: the cross-section of sports, pop culture, news, entertainment, art and more
    • Covers Flyers games and events by providing real-time content across all social platforms all while aligning with tone and voice of the organization
    • Provide regular reporting and analytics on social media platforms
    • Highly familiar with latest tools and capabilities of social media platforms and user behavior across them
    • Align with overall organizational and departmental revenue objectives and strategies
    • Collaborate with various members of the team including marketing, PR, game presentation, internal and external agencies etc. to deliver and execute successful social campaigns and tactics that align with the overall digital strategy
    • Devise content plans and executions for integrated sponsorship opportunities
    • Identify social media trends and recommend new business strategies to leverage them for increased business impact


    • Minimum 3 years of experience in digital media, communications or marketing experience required; prior experience directly managing social platforms required
    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in communications, marketing, or other related field
    • Proven track record of delivering success via organic content on social and digital platforms; deep understanding of digital and social media metrics with a passion for emerging media trends and technology, especially social products
    • Vast knowledge of all social media platforms; experience using social media publishing and analytics tools.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in the English language required
    • Ability to craft a tone of voice that aligns with the Flyers organization; brings an understanding and excitement for the Flyers, the NHL and Philadelphia sports
    • Accustomed to working in a fast-paced environment with ability to multi-task and collaborate
    • Ability to work traditional business hours plus nights, weekends, select holidays and/or remotely at times is required; in addition to extensive travel as required
    • Must possess graphic design and video/animation production skill; expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and familiarity of HTML desired.
    • Must be able to work on Mac and PC platforms

    Intellectual/Social demands:

    • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employees in this role will constantly be in leadership role; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires constant use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/motivate/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.

    Physical demands:

    • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, fax machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.

    Work environment:

    • The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-even times.
