  • Overview

    The Maintenance Technician performs general facility maintenance and repair tasks to ensure that the facility remains in presentable and operable condition.


      • Perform regular maintenance on a wide range of facility systems including, but not limited to, pumps, motors, filtering devices, air conditioning and heating equipment and other mechanical devices.

    • Respond to emergency requests for repair services, diagnoses problems and either immediately make repairs or call on a supervisor for additional assistance or direction.
    • Operate a wide variety of equipment used in the maintenance of the facility such as saws, drills, torches, sanders, cutters, grinders and other maintenance equipment.
    • Drive vans, pick-up trucks, forklifts, high-lifts, floor scrubbers, and other vehicles as required.
    • Perform basic plumbing, electrical, painting masonry, welding, carpentry and other trade related tasks.
    • Maintain utility systems, as required.
    • Ability to operate building automation system, and make any necessary adjustments.
    • Recommend repairs needed on equipment and facility structures.
    • Prepare and submit time, material and costs reports.
    • Maintain storage areas and equipment in designated areas in a neat and orderly manner.
    • Maintain repair log, inventory record and replacement schedule for facility equipment and supplies.

    • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, shop drawings, manufacturer’s specifications and other reference materials to determine most appropriate methods of completing tasks.
    • Identify job related challenges and make corrective recommendations to supervisor.
    • Provide excellent customer service assistance to internal and external clients.
    • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems.
    • Be on call
    • Perform other duties as assigned







    •              Basic computer proficiency: Microsoft products, to include: Excel, Word and Outlook.Knowledge of applicable safety rules and procedures.
    • Familiarity with relevant federal, state and local regulations
    • Experience with operational characteristics, services and activities of maintenance programs including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and painting, carpentry, grounds keeping, machinery and masonry work.
    • Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely in the English language. 





    • Minimum of two years’ experience in general facility maintenance, construction or a related field.

    • Experience maintaining and troubleshooting HVAC equipment preferred.
    • High school diploma or equivalent GED with additional specialized training in a maintenance or technical related field.
    • Experience in public facility highly preferred.
    • Specialized training in HVAC or related field preferred.
    • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
    • Ability to work a variable work schedule (including evenings and weekends, as required), depending upon event and business requirements.

    Intellectual/Social Demands:


    While performing duties of this job, the employee is frequently asked to multi-task under time constraints and with moderate to high pressure situations. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including: following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. Employee in this role will frequently need to oversee other part time staff; this requires directing others either verbally or in writing to complete tasks in prescribed time frame. This position also requires frequent use of interpersonal skills including: ability to direct/inform staff and foster collaboration, being able to recognize and resolve conflicts, being able to openly communicate in writing and verbally with clients.


    Physical Demands:


    While performing duties of the job, the employee frequently lifts and moves facility equipment and/or tools. Employee will constantly move about inside and outside various areas of the facility before/during/after events to interact with internal/external clients and verify the work completion; position will require employee to frequently grasp, hold, twist, kneel, lift, bend, stoop, or crouch in order to evaluate and inspect equipment and building infrastructure; employee will as needed, operate fork lift and or high lift in assessment of and maintenance of the building and equipment. Employee will occasionally be required to identify or match colors/tones of wire, wood, paint or other equipment. Employee will occasionally operate a computer and other office devices such as calculators, copy machines and printers; employee will constantly communicate via radio, telephone, email and in-person with others and exchange accurate information. Employee will frequently throughout maintenance, operations, and business demands lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. 


    Work Environment:


    The duties of this position are performed primarily indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal to moderate during non-event days and when not operating equipment and moderate to loud during event days when equipment is in operation.
