  • Overview

    Under direct supervision from the Director of Operations performs oversight of building set-up and tear down, oversee all event production, housekeeping and l maintenance tasks as assigned. Senior Operations Manager may receive instructions from the GM, AGM, Director of Operations or Event Managers.

    Responsibilities

    • Work from general instructions and specifications
    • Read and interpret paperwork regarding event specifications including but not limited to CADs and event datasheets.
    • Create weekly labor plans and effectively schedule labor.
    • Continually train staff as needed.
    • Manage the operation of event set-up and tear-down, i.e. basketball floor, stage risers, chairs, signs, table skirting, carpet, pipe and drape, etc.
    • Oversee all operation of audio/video equipment including but not limited to: arena sound system, audio board, center hung video board, HVAC, corner boards, and ribbon boards.
    • Assists with Administering and negotiating contracts with outside vendors including pest control, HVAC, electrical, scoreboard systems, seasonal landscaping and snow removal.
    • Assist event managers on all aspects of event production including confirming rigging layouts, CADs, production equipment rentals, sound and lights.
    • Work with Director of Ops to closely monitor and forecast budget and monthly expenses.
    • Oversee facility maintenance tasks as required
    • Report defective equipment, facility damage, areas of the facility requiring cleaning and incorrect or improper set-ups to supervisors in an timely manner
    • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
    • Perform other duties as required
    • Select, train, motivate and evaluate staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.

    Qualifications

    Knowledge Of:

    • Proper use and maintenance of hand and power tools related to job functions
    • Applicable safety rules and procedures
    • Customer Service practices

     

    Ability To:

    • Work from general instructions and specifications, with minimal supervision
    • Oversee staff in operation of a wide variety of equipment including vans, pick-up trucks, forklifts, high-lifts, and other vehicles as required
    • Provide directions to others
    • Work effectively in a service oriented environment subject to frequently changing priorities
    • Communicate clearly and concisely in the English language, both orally and in writing
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, contractors and facility users
    • Work a flexible schedule including early mornings, days, evenings, overnight, weekends, holidays, extended (long) work days and extended numbers of days

    Experience:

    • Must be at least 18 years of age
    • Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in maintenance or event setup in an arena, convention center, hotel, or other public assembly facility, with at least one (2) year of supervisory responsibility
    • Proficient knowledge of Word, Excel, and Outlook; working knowledge of AutoCAD is a plus,

    Education / Training:

    • Possession of, or ability to obtain a current fork lift license
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain an Texas driver’s license
