The Lead Catering Server provides direction and supervision to hourly event staff at catered events as directed by the Catering Managers. Responsible for serving guests in the venue dining areas at catered functions. Must be personable, professional and able to work in an ever-changing fast-paced environment. This role requires that the employee maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a varied event-driven schedule including evenings and weekends.
This position is based at the Iowa Events Center. The Iowa Events Center features a variety of flexible spaces to host events of all types and sizes. The Iowa Events Center is a unique combination of three venues under one roof: Wells Fargo Arena, Hy-Vee Hall, and Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center. The complex is flexible to meet the needs of events of all types and sizes. It is well-suited for conventions, meetings, tradeshows, sporting, social and entertainment events from 10,000–17,100 people.

Banquet serving experience or other related serving experience in a fine dining or professional service industry.
One or more years’ food service / catering management or related supervisory experience preferred.
Basic computer proficiency with typing and email. Experience with MS Word, Excel & Outlook preferred.
Cash handling experience with basic math skills including significant number manipulation.
Effective reading, comprehension, verbal and written skills in English Language.
Ability to pay close attention to detail, monitor behaviors of guests, have positive interpersonal relations.
Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, guests, managers and business contacts in a courteous and professional manner.
Ability to be self-directed with little oversight and direct a team,
Requires creating and sustaining a positive, teamwork oriented employee climate.
Ability to work a varied part time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and long hours.
