    This position is based at the PPL Center.  PPL Center is a state-of-the-art multipurpose venue in downtown Allentown, PA. The arena seats more than 10,000 for concerts and more than 8,500 for Lehigh Valley Phantoms professional hockey games, making it the region's largest events venue. The amenities-packed PPL Center, which includes more than 50 premium spaces (suites, loges, party areas) depending on the event, will host more than 150 events each year, offering something for everyone, including the Phantoms, the AHL affiliate of the NHL Philadelphia Flyers, concerts, family shows, trade shows, youth sports, high school and collegiate events, Disney on Ice, conferences, graduations and many more events. PPL Center is currently the main catalyst to the revitalization and growth of downtown Allentown.     The Operations Supervisor provides direct supervision to the changeover crew and housekeeping.

    • Assume management responsibility for all services and activities involved in the operations of arena sets
    • Select, train, motivate and evaluate front-line staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures
    • Assist in the planning, direction, coordination and review of the work plans for facility operations
    • Participate in the development and administration of the Operations budget; forecast of additional funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials and supplies; monitor and approve expenditures and implement adjustments as necessary within assigned responsibilities
    • Ability to follow written instruction, interpret AutoCAD drawings and blueprints
    • Interface with union officials and employees as required
    • Develop long range plans for future events
    • Assigns appropriate changeover personnel to accurately and efficiently set-up and tear down events
    • Communicates between shifts the necessary tasks that still need to be completed
    • Working knowledge of operations equipment including forklifts, pallet jacks, staging, retractable seating risers, basketball floors, hockey glass, etc.
    • Coordinate changeover crew and housekeeping needs with staff
    • Maintains departmental equipment
    • Ability to perform general maintenance/handy man functions in and around the arena, including but not limited to hanging items on walls, general building repairs, seating repairs, painting, door adjustments, etc.
    • Perform other duties as assigned


    • High school diploma (or equivalent)
    • Minimum of (2) years’ experience in an operations position in an Arena, Convention Center or Public Assembly Facility including set-up/housekeeping, event coordination or related field; a degree in Facility Management or related field may allow for substitution for years of experience
    • Must have a demonstrated ability to function in a fast paced, high-pressure environment and possess superior interpersonal and communication skills
    • Must have the ability to work long hours, nights, weekends and holidays
    • Must be self-motivated and have excellent organizational skills
