  • Overview

    Comcast Spectacor is seeking a dynamic Communications professional to lead Internal and External programs on traditional and digital media platforms. This role will be responsible for the development and execution of strategies that drive the company’s business objectives through media relations, digital storytelling, social media engagement and brand management for external and internal audiences.

     

    We are seeking an experienced and creative expert who has the ability to lead engaging campaigns, design compelling editorial calendars and showcase Comcast Spectacor’s major initiatives, talented employees and vibrant portfolio of professional sports and live entertainment assets. In addition, the Director of Corporate Communications will work closely with the business leads and Marketing/Communications teams that support each of the division’s assets that include the Wells Fargo Center arena and complex, the Philadelphia Flyers, the Philadelphia Fusion, the Philadelphia Wings and the Maine Mariners.

     

    Strong writing skills and hands-on experience in digital, social and traditional media are a must. The ideal candidate has a firm command of the evolving media landscape, a passion for storytelling and an ability to establish charismatic narratives that span corporate affairs, employee recognition, strategic growth and sports business.

    Responsibilities

    • Drive the development and execution of traditional and digital Communications strategies that build the Comcast Spectacor brand and foster opportunities for increased revenue
    • Leverage opportunities within the evolving media landscape to tell engaging stories that promote Comcast Spectacor’s strengths and champion our employees.
    • Drive open communication with employees through multiple channels via timely and accurate information about the company, its goals, and accomplishments.
    • Partner with the Human Resources team to develop engaging internal Communications programs to ensure the delivery of relevant business information and the advancement of a winning culture.
    • Cultivate the skills and effectiveness of the Corporate Communications department’s Publicist and Specialist through the continued development of a collaborative and goal-oriented team.
    • Lead meaningful and measurable growth strategies across Comcast Spectacor’s social media channels through creative campaigns that illustrate the company’s active portfolio of professional sports and entertainment assets.  
    • Strengthen relationships with wide-ranging media contacts and influencers to generate positive coverage promoting our business activities, key initiatives and executives.
    • Work closely with internal Marketing and Leadership teams to identify our best opportunities and develop inclusive campaigns with multiple touch points.
    • Develop best-in-class Communications and Marketing materials that break through the clutter and position Comcast Spectacor as an industry leader
    • Partner with the Comcast Corporate Communications team to identify overarching strategies and stories that communicate our collective strength and cooperation.
    • Work with senior leadership team and staff to recognize internal and external communications opportunities and solutions.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, journalism, business or comparable discipline. 
    • 7-10 years working with executives in a corporate communications role shaping strategic communications, PR, and/or marketing communications.
    • Proven experience in developing strategic, consistent and creative messaging.
    • A solution-oriented mindset, positivity, optimism and high energy.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as keen attention to detail.
    • Experience working for a company undergoing growth and transformation.
    • Solid understanding of the digital and social media landscape, industry trends and key players.
    • Ability to play an effective public role in strengthening the Company’s profile.
    • Comfort and familiarity with a fast-paced news environment.
    • History of building strong relationships with business/trade reporters and key influencers.
    • Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent project management skills.
    • An ability to anticipate needs around internal and external messaging.
    • Must be flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays.

    • While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time constraints.     Physical demands:

    • While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee constantly operates a computer and other office devices such telephones, copy machines, etc; occasionally moves about inside the office to access storage areas, cabinets and office machinery; constantly moves about the arena and event sites before, during and after events to service clients and supervise staff; constantly communicates via telephone, email and in-person with others to exchange accurate information.

                  Work environment:

    • The duties of this position are performed indoors and occasionally outdoors in the weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in the work environments is usually moderate to loud during events and minimal during non-event times.
