  • Overview

    This internship will work closely with the Events and Marketing Departments to learn and participate in the successful execution special events. Responsibilities to include publicizing the facility and/or events through a variety of traditional and non-traditional means for the purpose of selling tickets, booking meeting facilities, and creating public awareness for the Ted Constant Convocation Center. In addition, this position will assist in event planning and coordination of select events, including client walkthroughs, scheduling staff, assisting artist, teams or organizations with problems or needs before during and after events and ensure all guests of the Constant Center have a GREAT Experience.


    • Understand how to conduct marketing research through phone calls, emailing, searching the internet, and conducting meetings with various individuals within the market.
    • Assist in developing and implementing event marketing plans and promotions
    • Participate in grassroots marketing, including distribution of flyers, hanging posters, and building relationships with various retailers to promote events
    • Attend meetings which include brainstorming sessions and explain how to executing public relations event ideas
    • Draft and circulate press releases and media advisories
    • Work with Manager to learn how to create and deliver media drops
    • Assist department in gathering press clips
    • Responsible for updating media contact lists
    • Work Marketing table for public relations, promotional, and venue events *This may include hours outside of 9-5, M-F*
    • Perform variety of event day responsibilities within the Marketing Department
    • Assist with event planning and coordination, including athletic events, concerts, family shows, etc.
    • Walkthrough set-up with potential clients
    • Work closely with event staff to coordinate scheduling and placement
    • Assist with event opening and closing activities, including load ins and load outs
    • Assist event personnel with various functions and troubleshooting/problem solving during events
    • Assist Office Manager with any special projects
    • Maintain and update event files, event calendars and other spreadsheets.
    • Other daily tasks assigned as needed
    • Gain knowledge with respects to understanding arena event settlements and other aspects surrounding arena events.


    • College juniors, seniors, or graduate students
    • Recommended for Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality Majors
    • GPA of 3.5 or above highly desired
    • Active involvement in on campus civic and/or leadership activities highly desired
    • Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
    • Must possess working knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop
    • Demonstrated attention to details
    • Must be self-motivated with a ‘can-do’ attitude and a strong desire to learn
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
