  • Overview

    The Food and Beverage Coordinator provides support and assistance to all levels of the business operation including Catering, Concessions and the F&B Warehouse. The Food and Beverage Coordinator must provide a high level of event oversight, technical proficiency and operational/personnel support to ensure the smooth running of (or preparation for) any assigned event.  The Food and Beverage Coordinator will actively supervise, coach, counsel, direct, train and mentor employees in meeting company quality standards; promote a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment; and actively participate in Food and Beverage meetings in coordination with building meetings.

     

    This is a key position for the effective and profitable operation of the business.  The Food and Beverage Coordinator must maintain excellent attendance and be available to work a variable event-driven schedule which includes evenings and weekends.  Open availability, professional presentation, outstanding interpersonal skills, self-direction and strong management and independent decision-making skills are required.

    Responsibilities

    • Assists in the overall effective management of Catering, Concessions and Warehouse operations.
    • Ensures total compliance with all alcohol service policies, monitors alcohol service throughout events to assure 100% compliance with policies, and reports issues immediately to management.
    • Assists in managing food and beverage events from set up to break down, including communication with staff and guests.
    • Maintain effective communication within food and beverage as well as with other operating departments.
    • Attend weekly planning meetings.
    • Work with Food and Beverage Director/ Manager to ensure appropriate inventory levels are maintained for all events.
    • Work with Management to ensure quality and accuracy of set ups for food and beverage events.
    • Become familiar with the computer systems and technology in use in the food and beverage areas.
    • Monitor product quality, rotate product and ensure high levels of guest service.
    • Evaluate and recommend methods for increasing over-the-counter sales.
    • Assist in vault opening, closing and balancing, as necessary.
    • Responsible for product receiving and distribution control for the venue.
    • Maintain and manage cleanliness and sanitation in all food and beverage areas.
    • Provide direction to staff to ensure all tasks are completed for each event, in addition to requisitioning during events, post-event break down, warehouse returns, equipment storage, sanitation and maintenance.
    • Ensure proper transfer process of product between food and beverage locations, including follow-up documentation.
    • Perform routine maintenance checks; responsible for concession and utility equipment cleaning and maintenance: portable equipment, carts, floors, refrigeration, and lighting. Ensure manifested equipment is in location.
    • Conduct walk through of the food and beverage areas after the completion of the day/ event to ensure all areas are clean.
    • Oversee daily operation as either opening or closing manager on duty.
    • Assist Food and Beverage Director/ Manager with daily/weekly/monthly duties when needed.

    Qualifications

    • Must be at least 18 years of age.
    • Associates Degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or related food and beverage experience in lieu of education, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Food and Beverage experience in a similar venue experience a plus.
    • Advanced food service sanitation training course certification a plus.
    • Forklift certification a plus.

     

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Valid Food Handler’s certificate, or able to be certified within 90 days.
    • Valid Alcohol Service Permit, or able to be certified within 90 days.
    • Familiar with inventory cost controls and menu planning.
    • Ability to communicate with employees, co-workers, volunteers, management staff and guests in a clear, professional and courteous manner which fosters a positive, enthusiastic and cooperative work environment.
    • Ability to make sound business/operations decisions (i.e. regarding employee placement, staffing adjustments, and/or respond to technical, product or equipment challenges during an event) quickly and under pressure.
    • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
    • Basic computer proficiency: Microsoft office, POS systems, and timekeeping systems.
    • Cash handling abilities; basic math skills, as they relate to POS cash/credit transactions, cash reconciliation and product inventory.
    • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment.
    • Possess a thorough working knowledge of all existing concessions locations: geographical location, equipment, evacuation procedures, adjacent employee and guest areas, and facility access.
    • Possess thorough working knowledge of all applicable sanitation requirements, food preparation guidelines, alcohol service policies, safety standards, etc. pertaining to Spectra and venue concession operations.
    • Ability to consistently adhere to the highest standards of integrity, professionalism, ethics and confidentiality.

     

     

    Physical Dimensions:

     Performing the duties of this position involves extensive and continuous standing and walking.  Routine activities require the employee to be able to reach with hands and arms, sit, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.  The employee is frequently required to lift up to 50 pounds.  The vision requirements include the ability to adjust focus, peripheral vision and close vision.
