    Spectra Venue Management is seeking a qualified and dynamic professional to fill the full-time, one-year position of Sales/Marketing Manager for the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. Reporting to the Director of Sales, the Sales/Marketing Manager is responsible for promoting and booking events for the convention centre, while overseeing marketing strategy and tactics to drive economic impact and revenue for all market segments.

    Responsibilities

    • Promote the facility and the City of Penticton to all potential facility users and existing customers, including local, regional, provincial and national clients
    • Assist the Director of Sales in developing strategies to attract new markets, increase revenue, and improve facility users’ experience
    • Responsible for coordinating with the marketing department to develop collateral materials such as promotional pieces, press releases, welcome graphics for marquee, trade show displays and materials, advertising program deliverables, sales materials, digital campaigns, newsletters, etc. for the convention centre
    • Responsible for management of social media platforms with upcoming events, promotions, and initiatives
    • Update the facility website with new events, news, imagery, campaign landing pages and content
    • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with Travel Penticton, area hotels, facility staff, service providers and facility users, including local, regional, provincial and national clients
    • Respond to inquiries by prospective and confirmed facility users regarding rental rates and space availability for the facility
    • Prepare written proposals and cost estimates for potential facility users, reevaluate potential business value of various events and facility users, initiate booking discussions, finalize all booking arrangements
    • Identify facility need periods and create strategies and tactics to fill dates through promotions and prospecting
    • Conduct facility tours and make formal presentations to convention and exhibition managers and other facility users regarding facility booking policies, rental rates, services and operational policies 
    • Prepare event license agreements and addenda and assist facility users in finalizing booking arrangements
    • Enter and maintain facility user contact information, correspondence and booking information into event booking and management system; update as necessary
    • Provide information to and relay information between other facility departments involved in servicing events
    • Assist facility users and event managers with planning events and act as facility event manager as required
    • Prepare monthly marketing/sales reports and post event surveys and reports
    • As assigned, conduct a variety of industry related studies and recommend modifications to departmental service delivery methods and operational policies and procedures as appropriate
    • Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
    • Travel to and represent the facility at various industry events and trade shows
    • Track event progress in event booking and management program
    • Perform other duties as required

     



    Salary for this position will be determined based on the candidate’s education and experience.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in sales or marketing, preferably with a convention centre, hotel, performing arts facility or other multipurpose public assembly facility
    • Post-secondary education from an accredited college or university with major course work in marketing, public relations, business administration, hospitality management or other related field
    • Additional years of experience may be substituted for formal education
    • Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
    • \Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) designation preferred
    • Proficiency in Windows and Microsoft Office software
    • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
