    This position is based at out Ryan Center. A state-of-the-art, multi-purpose facility, the Thomas M. Ryan Center, located on the University of Rhode Island campus in scenic South County, opened its doors in June 2002. Home to URI Men’s and Women’s Basketball programs, the Ryan Center also features the URI football teams' locker room, along with athletic department offices, training rooms, players' lounges and a souvenir store. The venue seats 8,000 for basketball, and over 6,300 for concerts, family shows, lectures and other community events. The Ryan Center was designed and built to meet all ADA specifications to accommodate our guests with disabilities.     The position is responsible for all day-to-day accounting functions including but not limited to general ledger, accounts receivable, to keep financial records up to date as well as preparing financial statements and budget analysis.  To monitor, control, and audit all financial transactions, and to perform a full range of professional accounting duties involved in fiscal management, record keeping, reporting and financial analysis of the facility.  A successful candidate will be a team player who will help take our company to the next level.

    • Oversee and assist in all general accounting functions including: General Ledger, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
    • Perform accounts receivable processes including invoice preparation and recording cash receipts.
    • Balance sheet analysis.
    • Perform monthly reconciliations of P&L and balance sheet accounts.
    • Prepare monthly audit work papers
    • Compile monthly financial statements for review by Director of Finance
    • Prepare and enter monthly closing journal entries.
    • Accounting and reporting for events.
    • Inter-company reconciliation.
    • Monthly reconciliation of accounts payable ledger to the general ledger.
    • Monthly reconciliation of employee benefits.
    • Assist with budget preparation.
    • Payroll register reconciliation.
    • Coordinate with Box Office on daily reports and deposits
    • Reconcile the daily credit card sales from the ticketing system
    • Verify the weekly statements from the ticketing company and approve payment of the invoice
    • Implement accounting controls and procedures
    • Prepare a variety of financial spreadsheets, reports, and analyses for Director of Finance and General Manager.
    • Apply Federal, State, and local laws and regulations pertaining to accounting and auditing work.
    • Act as backup in providing general office and clerical support



    • Three years of professional accounting experience.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university required. Consideration will be given to other business-related degrees with related accounting experience.
    • High level of proficiency in Windows environment with extensive experience in Microsoft applications, especially Microsoft Excel and Word.
    • Working knowledge of Sage 100 and Biznet, a report writer, a plus.
    • Ability to work with all levels of management and in teams.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills and attention to detail. Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet strict deadlines.
    • Proven ability to work well with all levels of management.
    • Customer focused and professional attitude.
    • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid drivers’ license
